WELCOME
I'm glad you're here.
I've always had quite the sweet tooth. A day with no dessert sounds to me a bleak day indeed! Though I grew up baking brownies and cakes from the box, I caught the 'baking bug' in college while taking frequent breaks from studying theology, and I have never looked back.
​
I work in biomedical research at the National Institutes of Health, and find great hope in the pursuit of physical and emotional wellness. Though I find great meaning in this aspect of my life, my husband will tell you that the midst of this confusing and often troubling season of the COVID-19 pandemic, baking for others has been a great source of release and solace for me. I believe that gesture as simple delivering a muffin to a front door can be a profound show of love and compassion.
A chocolate enthusiast at heart with a penchant for research and experimentation, I love discovering new recipes and making them my own. It is a great joy of my life to share my homemade treats with others, and I hope that you are able to taste the love with which every treat is made.

A NOTE ABOUT PROFITS
A family story
In college I had the privilege of moving to the Philippines for 7 months as a public health intern at a birthing clinic on the outskirts of Manila. My charge was to do what in many ways is the unthinkable for eager, earnest, self-assured college Americans: to sit, to observe, to ask, and to learn. To resist the urge to jump to conclusions or solutions in favor of humility, and to experience what it truly means to be a guest in someone else's country, someone else's home.

Interning at the birthing home, witnessing eight midwives nurture hundreds of women as they moved toward and through the births of their children, was a vivid experience of companionship and compassion unlike any experience I'd had prior or have had since. But the vibrant love I found in the family who cared for me heart, body and soul during those seven months in Manila was and continues to be the beacon of light that carries me day to day, some five years later.

My host mom, whom I lovingly call Ate (sister) Helen, and my two beloved host sisters Michelle and Mai Mai, wove me into the fabric of their lives, and through the blessing of modern technology, we have continued to nourish our familial relationship as the years have progressed. Michelle is studying graphic design and art at high school (she made the graphic above!) and Mai Mai is excelling at first grade. Ate Helen is a Thesis paper away from earning her official Bachelor's Degree in Midwifery, at which point she will have the ability to open her own birthing clinic. COVID-19 has hit the Philippines as it has the US, but Ate Helen has taken on a second job in this time to continue to support her girls and work toward her dream of opening a clinic of her own. It is a joy and honor to combine my passion for baking with Ate Helen's dream for her family and her community. That being said, all profits from Genevieve's Sweets and Treats will go directly to Ate Helen's Clinic Fund. Thank you for supporting our efforts, and by doing so, thank you for joining our family!
